Raúl López

Raúl is a Partner in the Consulting and IT Innovation Department and Head of Digital Assets & Web3 at Grant Thornton Spain. He has been with the firm since June 2018. Raúl has been directly involved in managing projects related to Blockchain, as well as Innovation and Technological Security projects for large multinational organizations across various sectors, such as Banking, Insurance, and Energy (Oil & Gas), where he has led several of the most important Blockchain consortiums in Spain.

In total, he has over 15 years of professional experience. Prior to joining Grant Thornton, Raúl worked for six years at Grupo Villar Mir, where he served as Operations Manager in the IT Space Department, the Group's technology company, leading the Innovation area. In this role, he oversaw the direct management of the entire IT & Innovation project portfolio for several companies within the Holding, such as OHL Concesiones, Grupo Fertiberia, and Grupo Ferroglobe, including both national and international projects. Additionally, Raúl has more than 8 years of experience in IT Consulting, including his time at EY, where he worked with clients such as Repsol, Telefónica, and Siemens, conducting SOX security audits, ISAE 3402 audits, and strategic technology consulting projects.

In the field of payments, he has led several projects: with Morabanc, advising on the creation and implementation of a crypto strategy, including custody, tokenization, payment methods, and BTC and ETH funds; with Bizum, exploring the potential for introducing new value-added payment services for its clients; with Iberpay's Smart Payments, evaluating the functional, regulatory, and technical feasibility of a Blockchain-based platform, and, most importantly, its ability to meet user needs; and with Allfunds, helping to clarify regulatory issues, define the necessary license based on market operation, and test platform operations.

Raúl holds a degree in Computer Science from Carlos III UC3M, a Master’s in Finance from UCJC, and is a Lead Auditor for ISO 27001:2015.

In addition, Raúl is a frequent speaker at various specialized events and conferences in Spain and Latin America, as well as a professor of digital assets at different business schools and universities in Spain.
